I'm maniac mansion sure part of that is because men tend to be taller and thus have a longer frame on which to distribute the fat. But it's also because women are still valued for their decorative appeal above all else, and a man's insecurities still have more to do with money than looks. The other day, I went to a big public Asian market where there fat man adventure were lots of tiny, delicate Asian women walking around, and I have to say, I felt like an elephant fat man adventure clomping through the tulips. But it's a problem with whites, too, especially "upwardly mobile" ones. In order to be considered attractive in this society, women are supposed to be delicate and featherlight, "a slip of a thing," "no bigger than a minute," someone a guy could pick up and carry over the threshhold fat man adventure with no sweat. A woman who's even a tiny bit substantial is made to feel like some kind of mutant, a slap in the face to all men. Wacky as it sounds, I constantly hear size 8 women complaining about how fat they are and that they need to go on a diet. |
