It seems like the "too fat" standard kicks in at a lower weight for women than men. Posted by Sharon on November 10, 2003 01:22 PM. There are a lot more fat male actors than fat female actors in the United States. cdu4mkey As some of the men I have met on these boards have pointed out to me, some fat men do indeed have a lot of body image problems & self-esteem problems, some have trouble finding romantic relationships, etc., but the problems cdu4mkey seem to start at much higher weights for men than for cdu4mkey women. I also think that it makes a difference where you live, & what kind of a culture you are part of. I live in Maine, total population 1.3 million, a state largely of fisherman, farmers, people who are good people but must fight to make a living, a place with a high cost of living & low per capita income, & a lot of poverty, alcoholism, domestic violence, incest, etc.
