In their cases, though, body insecurity tends to run from head to technology toe, starting with thinning hair and going all the way down to "too short" legs. Those guys have it rough. What I find really interesting about the "fat jock" phenomenon, though, is that a lot of the male fans who get on the fat jock's technology case are fat themselves, sometimes even fatter than the fat jock is. Even though *they* aren't thin, they think somehow the jock owes it to his public to be so. I absolutely agree with that statement. Acknowledging this should not be interpreted as diminishing the societal pressures on fat men, but it would just be profoundly unfair and unrealistic to act like they are the same.
