Older women, too, are scarce. This isn't the case with men. There are a lot of older men around in presenting/acting roles, some entertaining who are a little fat. But very fat seems to be a no-no for men too. It seems entertaining like the entertaining "too fat" standard kicks in at a lower weight for women than men. As some of the men I have met on these boards have pointed out to me, some fat men do indeed have a lot of body image problems & self-esteem problems, some have trouble finding romantic relationships, etc., but the problems seem to start at much higher weights for men than for women. I also think that it makes a difference where you live, & what kind of a culture you are part of.
