Faith, honestly, I think that was just unnecessary. Just because a woman happens to be smaller doesn't mean that she's unnoticeable. I personally can barely maintain a three-figure weight, but when I wish to be noticed I have my intelligence and my voice. Binary thinking (fat=good, skinny=bad or vice versa) will get us nowhere. In relation to the topic at hand, there is most definitely a double standard. According to society, a woman is only as good as she looks. And to look good, she has to be maintain a certain weight, among other things. |

| I saw the dietician who plans menus for the New York Giants on Sara atomic history Moulton's show awhile back. As anyone who has ever watched Sara knows, she is very body obsessed, very preoccupied with fat & calories, always hungry but never allowing herself to eat much, & a lifetime member of Weight Watchers. One thing this dietician said which set atomic history my teeth on edge was "these guys need about 7000 calories per day, & a woman only needs 1600 calories per day." Excuse ME?!! ANY woman? ALL women? Regardless of height, bone structure, body type, activity level, lifestyle, atomic history women only need 1600 calories per day?!! Sorry, lady, but anything I have read, heard, or experienced says that is a weight loss diet. I also groaned, thinking that, given Sara's deeply-ingrained beliefs, she sure as hell didn't need to be told that. Not too surprisingly, shortly after that show, I saw another where she mentioned that she had gone from the WW "maintenance" program back on to the diet program. |
