In order to woo her, he begins to lose weight and eventually drops 600 pounds in the hopes of winning her affections. Although considered a comedy, the story also contains dramatic undertones as the intellingent-but-bitter man must deal emotionally with the effects of losing so much weight and cope with the notion that his metamorphosis may not win him his love. via Skinny Kat.
