He tells us not to count on it, though, and sees himself and the rest of us walking through the Forest Gump thickets in a haze rather than focusing intelligently on our problems. The best lesson to take from this book is to consider it a constructive slap on the face. Once slapped take an active interest in what is going on from the local level all the way to the presidency.
